studying three dimensional design at Berkshire College of Art & Design,
Stella was awarded a Bursary from The Royal Society of Arts to study design
in Europe. She was also awarded the best student entry for the Dunlopillo
Design Award from an international field.
After a career in commercial design and further
studies in Landscape Design, Stella has concentrated on developing her practical
skills in the process of kiln-formed glass by recreating scenes using glass
and other components that become panels, dishes and table centre pieces.
With studios both in Bath and Devon, nature
and water is paramount in all her designs. 'I am enormously privileged to
live in a World Heritage City for some months of the year and then close
to the sea in rural Devon. I have challenged myself to recreate the feel
of both these places in my glass designs from the bustling sailing towns
of Salcombe and Dartmouth in the summer months to the elegant Georgian architecture
and surrounding hills of Bath.'
Stella is a member of The Contemporary Glass
Society and the South Hams Arts Forum.
